Our story
Funckia.com is the hosta shop of Dutch-Bulbs B.V. from Voorhout, in the heart of the Dutch bulb region. With Amarylia.com and Peonita.com we already send amaryllis bulbs and peony roots across Europe.
Our name comes from Funkia, the old name for hostas, given in honour of the German botanist Heinrich Christian Funck.
We ship from 1 March to 1 July, the right time to plant. You can order all year round: orders placed between 1 July and 1 March are pre-orders, paid now and shipped from 1 March.
Every pack contains 2 plants of the same variety.
It depends on your country and order value. Netherlands €4.95, free from €75; free delivery from €75 to 17 countries in total. You see the exact amount at checkout.
Most hostas grow best in shade or partial shade, in humus-rich soil that stays moist. Yellow and gold hostas can take some morning sun.
We give a 100% growing guarantee. If a plant does not grow even though you followed our planting and care instructions, we replace it or refund it.

Leaf colour: blue, green, yellow and gold, white and cream, or variegated.
Size: miniature and small hostas for pots and edges, medium hostas for borders, large and giant hostas as eye-catchers.

Varieties
The best blue hostas range from the miniature Blue Mouse Ears to giants such as Big Daddy and Blue Angel. Their blue comes from a waxy coating that is thickest in spring and wears off in strong sun, heat and heavy rain, so plant them in shade or morning sun and water gently at the base. Varieties with a thick wax coat keep their colour longest.
