Francee is a medium-sized hosta whose green leaves are finished with a clean white edge. That pale outline catches the light in shady beds and along paths, and gives each clump a neat, tailored look.

It is a versatile plant. Run a row of it along a path, use it at the front of a border, grow it in a large pot, or let a group knit together as ground cover. Ferns, astilbes and other hostas make good companions. You will find more two-tone leaves among our variegated hostas.

Planting and care

  • Allow about 50 cm between plants, in humus-rich ground that stays moist without becoming soggy.
  • Set the crown level with the soil, firm it in lightly and water thoroughly.
  • In dry spells, water at the base rather than over the leaves; mulch helps the soil hold moisture.
  • Guard the new shoots against slugs and snails in spring.

For more detail, see our guide to planting and care.

Covered by our 100% growing guarantee: if a plant does not grow although you followed our care advice, we replace or refund it.
