A white margin outlines each blue-green leaf of Snow Cap, one of the newer hostas in our range. On this medium-sized hosta, the pale edge against the cool leaf colour gives a crisp look in shade.

A row along a path, a single plant in a large pot, a group knitting together as ground cover in a shady border: Snow Cap suits each of these. More recent arrivals are listed under our new hosta varieties.

Planting and care

  • Allow about 50 cm between Snow Cap plants, in humus-rich soil that drains freely.
  • Shade keeps the blue-green tone at its best; avoid places with hot afternoon sun.
  • In dry spells, give Snow Cap water at soil level and leave the leaves dry.
  • Look for slugs and snails on the spring shoots of Snow Cap after rain.

Our hosta planting guide covers every step, from soil to winter.

Covered by our 100% growing guarantee: if a plant does not grow although you followed our care advice, we replace or refund it.

How to plant?
  1. Choose a spot in shade or partial shade.
  2. Dig a hole about twice as wide as the roots and mix in some compost.
  3. Place the plant so that the crown, where the shoots start, is level with the soil surface.
  4. Fill the hole, press the soil gently and water well.
  5. Keep the soil moist, especially in the first year.
  6. Protect the young shoots from slugs and snails in spring.
