Yellow from edge to edge, the leaves of Post-It turn this medium-sized hosta into a patch of light in partial shade. There is no second colour to compete with, just one clear, even yellow.

It adapts to many places: edge a path with it, plant it through a shady border, set out a group as ground cover or give it a large pot by the door. Ferns, astilbes and other hostas make good partners. Explore more bright foliage among our yellow and gold hostas.

Planting and care

  • Morning sun with afternoon shade keeps Post-It at its brightest yellow; hot afternoon sun is too strong for it.
  • Space the plants about 50 cm apart; for ground cover, set several Post-It at that distance so the clumps meet.
  • Water at the base in dry weather, keeping the yellow leaves dry, and mulch to hold moisture in the soil.
  • Wet spring nights bring out slugs and snails, which like the new shoots of Post-It; check the next morning.

Our hosta planting guide covers every step, from soil to winter.

Covered by our 100% growing guarantee: if a plant does not grow although you followed our care advice, we replace or refund it.

How to plant?
  1. Choose a spot in shade or partial shade.
  2. Dig a hole about twice as wide as the roots and mix in some compost.
  3. Place the plant so that the crown, where the shoots start, is level with the soil surface.
  4. Fill the hole, press the soil gently and water well.
  5. Keep the soil moist, especially in the first year.
  6. Protect the young shoots from slugs and snails in spring.

Hosta Post-It at a glance

Hosta Post-It: questions & answers

Where should I plant Hosta Post-It?

In partial shade. A little morning sun brightens the yellow of Post-It, but keep it away from hot afternoon sun.

How far apart should I plant Hosta Post-It?

About 50 cm. A group of Post-It planted at that spacing grows into a yellow ground cover.

Can Hosta Post-It grow in a pot?

Yes, Post-It suits a large pot with drainage holes. Water it regularly and stand the pot where it gets morning sun rather than afternoon heat.
