Bobcat trims its blue leaves with cream, and the pale edge lights up a shady bed. Medium in size, this hosta is easy to work into a shade garden.

Plant it along a path or in a border, set one in a large pot, or group several as ground cover, with ferns, astilbes and other hostas around them. More two-tone leaves are in our variegated hostas.

At a glance

  • Leaf colour: blue centre, cream margin

Planting and care

  • Bobcat needs about 50 cm per plant, both in a border and in a ground-cover group.
  • Choose shade or partial shade for Bobcat, sheltered from the hot afternoon sun.
  • In a large pot, give Bobcat good drainage and water it more often than plants in the border.
  • Slugs and snails go for young hosta shoots, so check Bobcat in spring after damp weather.

Our hosta planting guide covers every step, from soil to winter.

Covered by our 100% growing guarantee: if a plant does not grow although you followed our care advice, we replace or refund it.

Hosta Bobcat: questions & answers

What do the leaves of Hosta Bobcat look like?

They are blue with a cream margin. The light edge shows up well in shade and gives each leaf of Bobcat a clear outline.

How far apart should I plant Hosta Bobcat?

About 50 cm apart. Bobcat is medium-sized, so that spacing works for a border, a path edge or ground cover.

Can Hosta Bobcat grow in a pot?

Yes, Bobcat grows well in a large pot with drainage holes. Water it regularly, as a container dries out faster than garden soil.
