Warwick Comet has cupped leaves with a yellow centre and a green margin, and the bright centre glows against the green rim like the head of a comet. It is a medium-sized hosta, recently added to our range.

Warwick Comet works in a border, at the edge of a walk or in a large pot, and a cluster of plants will cover the ground. A little morning sun lifts the yellow, while hot afternoon sun is better avoided. Find more bright leaves among our yellow and gold hostas.

Planting and care

  • Space Warwick Comet about 50 cm apart, so the cupped leaves of neighbouring plants do not overlap.
  • Morning sun is welcome, but give Warwick Comet shade in the afternoon.
  • Keep the soil around Warwick Comet moist in dry spells, watering at the base, and add a mulch.
  • When the spring shoots of Warwick Comet appear, check them for slugs and snails after wet nights.

Our hosta planting guide covers every step, from soil to winter.

Covered by our 100% growing guarantee: if a plant does not grow although you followed our care advice, we replace or refund it.

Hosta Warwick Comet: questions & answers

What do the leaves of Hosta Warwick Comet look like?

They are cupped, with a yellow centre and a green margin, so the light middle of Warwick Comet shows clearly in shade.

How much sun can Hosta Warwick Comet take?

Partial shade suits it; a little morning sun makes the yellow centres brighter, but hot afternoon sun does not suit Warwick Comet.

Can Hosta Warwick Comet grow in a pot?

Yes, Warwick Comet can be grown in a large pot that drains through holes in the base. Water it regularly, as containers dry out faster than borders.
