Compact and bright, Mango Tango is a hosta whose yellow leaves carry a green edge. Its pale centres catch whatever light reaches a shady bed.

Put it in a pot on a shaded patio, along the margin of a path or at a border’s front edge; a little morning sun brings out the strongest colour. Our yellow and gold hostas collect more varieties like it.

At a glance

  • Leaf colour: yellow centre, green margin
  • Size: small to medium
  • Light: partial shade; some morning sun brings out the brightest colour
  • Good for: path edging, the front of a border, pots
  • Pack: 2 plants of the same variety, from the Netherlands
  • Arrives as: bare-root plants
  • Shipping: 1 March to 1 July; order all year round

Planting and care

  • Space Mango Tango 30–50 cm apart for a neat edging.
  • Morning sun suits the yellow centres; shield the plant from hot afternoon sun.
  • Containers suit Mango Tango if they have drainage holes; water them regularly in warm weather.
  • After spring rain, look under the leaves of Mango Tango for slugs and snails.

Our hosta planting guide covers every step, from soil to winter.

Covered by our 100% growing guarantee: if a plant does not grow although you followed our care advice, we replace or refund it.
