Bright yellow edges outline the green leaves of Mama Mia, a medium-sized hosta that brings light into shady spots. The margin gives every leaf a crisp, defined shape.

Plant a group to make bright-edged ground cover, use it to line a path, or set one in a large pot or a shady border. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes and other hostas. Browse our variegated hostas for more edged leaves.

Hosta Mama Mia: questions & answers

What colour are the leaves of Hosta Mama Mia?

Each green leaf has a bright yellow margin, and those edges let Mama Mia light up shady spots.

How far apart should I plant Hosta Mama Mia?

Give each plant roughly 50 cm, which leaves this medium hosta room to fill out beside its neighbours.

What goes well with Hosta Mama Mia?

Ferns, astilbes and other hostas. Planted with them in a shady border, the yellow edges of Mama Mia catch the eye.
